FlowBiz Knife Edge Gate Valve:
Knife gate valves are designed especially for on-off and isolation benefits in systems with highly damaged solid content. The valves have an undervalued pressure drop in the fully open position; they are easy to actuate, relatively low weight, and cost-effective. Knife gate valves are particularly beneficial for handling slurry in addition to dense, acidic, and abrasive media.
FlowBiz makes high-performance Knife Edge Gate Valve features with designs suitable for specific media. We have unidirectional knife-edge gate valves. A wide variety of set trim options are also available for the Gate, Seat, and Wear Rings. Knife-edge gate Valves resist high temperature & abrasive slurries in Mining, Steel, Power, Chemical, and Paper Industries Ideal for high-density Slurry Lines. We mfg special valves for the Power plants with quick opening design.
Where are knife gate valves utilized?
Knife gate valves are scheduled to work in some of the most challenging surroundings. They generally contain a sharpened blade to cut through heavy fluids.
Knife gate valves should only be used for applications demanding a completely open or closed position and should not control flow unless designed. They are instrumental in wastewater applications where corrosion is an actual problem. So, complementing the valve design optimized for slurry media, it is helpful to have a knife composed of acid-proof stainless steel, as this makes it less sensitive to damage caused by breakdown. As a product, it needs less regular maintenance or even relief.
What is the difference between knife gates and gate valves?
The wedge-type and knife gate valves are mainly designed for on-off services where the Valve is fully opened or closed. It is not suggested to use either of these to regulate flow because when fluid forces against a partly closed gate, vibration occurs, and cavitation will finally harm the center and the body. Again, both valve types are designed to open and close slowly to reduce the risk of water hammer.
Application:
- Slurries
- Heavy oils
- Non-flammable thick liquids
- Wastewater
- Pure moisture
Knife Gate Valves are commonly found in wastewater treatment plants, chemical plants, mining, cement plants, and other industrial applications. In contrast, gate valves are usually found in drinking water mains, distribution networks, and pump stations.
