A foot valve is a non-return valve with a strainer connected to the open end. For suction charge applications, foot valves are widely used in the pump suction or at the base of pipelines. Using foot valves controls the pump primed. The liquid flows in but does not course off; hence, they are perfect for wells, ponds, and pools. As the foot valves' flow area is more significant than the pipe size, there is less lead loss.

WORKING ON A FOOT VALVE:

Foot valves are unidirectional, allowing the flow only in one order, and the valve closes for reverse flow. The channel strainer of the foot valve filters out the fluid's unnecessary solid particles, thus preventing valve damage. Foot valves are a classification of check valve that controls the backflow of liquid. They are set in the pipe's pick-up end and at the bottom. When the pump is included, a suction opens the foot valve. Water or other liquid quickly enters the line through the foot valve due to the pulling power of the pump. But when the pump is shifted off, this pulling force is released, but still, the water level holds its level as the ground valve does not allow the water to flow around.

The filter in a foot valve sifts out the waste that may stop the foot valve and cause damage to the pump. So, the filters cover the valves and pumps and complete a crucial part.
